updated 05 May, 2024

The remains of the Late Mrs. Otede Comfort Kpenosen (Nee: Edelu), a native of Azama Federated Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, was honoured one last time with a church service at the Unity Baptist Church's Sanctuary of Refuge in Warri, Ugbori, as her final journey home began on Friday, May 3, 2024.

As early as 6a.m. on Friday, families of the Late Mrs. Otede converged at the Naval Hospital morgue in Effurun to convey the body of the 77-year-old mother and grandmother who passed on after a brief illness on February 19, 2024.

Renowned as a dedicated church member and worker in God's vineyard, the body of the Late Mrs. Otede's first stop in her final journey was at the Unity Baptist Church where a brief church service held in her honour and prayers as well as words of exhortation were offered to the family and other sympathisers in attendance. an accountant by profession, where the casket housing the remains of the Late Mrs. Otede was laid at her home for one last time before it would be conveyed to her hometown via a decorated sea-borne vessel for her final funeral rites.

"It just dawned on me that our journey of almost 40 years of living together as husband and wife has just ended, leaving me alone to continue under pains arising from this loss," said her beloved husband, Mr. Kpenosen, in part of his tribute to his dear wife.

To the accountant, death has stolen his dear wife and mother of his children away from his arms, a loss he however took solace in with the fact that his beloved wife is with God, resting from her years of hard work.

Part of his tributes read: "God saw you were getting tired; a cure was not to be. So He puts His hands around you and whispered ‘come with me’. With tearful eyes we watched you pass on and also saw you fading away into the hands of the Lord.

"Although I and the family you left behind loved you dearly, we could not make you stay longer. This saddened loss certainly goes with the unfortunate circle of the stoppage of a golden heart, the final rest of a set of a hardworking hand.

"God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best. You are certainly in a peaceful place of rest and I’m sure with no pains. The Almighty God decided to take you to Heaven to join your parents, brothers, niece, nephews and friends for reasons reserved for Him alone.

"Your memories will live on with your good deeds and will have a huge void to fill. It will remain ever green... My dear love, continue to rest in the Bosom of the Most High till we meet to part no more," he prayed.
