END BAD GOVERNANCE: Oborevwori commends Deltans for peaceful protest
The executive governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has commended citizens of the state for their peaceful disposition so far as they join other Nigerians on the #EndBadGovernance and #Hunger nationwide protest.
The nationwide protest which kicked off on Thursday, August 1, 2024, is billed to last 10 days according to its organisers.
Governor Oborevwori, who took to his X (formerly Twitter) page on Thursday to share his thoughts on the protest, also promised to provide security for lives and properties as well as deliver good governance in tune with his MORE Agenda.
The statement reads:
"I want to take a moment to commend Deltans for their remarkable embrace of peace during these challenging times. As we witness nationwide hunger protests, I feel the pain of our youths and stakeholders across the state.
"I am truly delighted by the peaceful manner in which Deltans have conducted themselves. To my dear youths, I thank you for how you organized yourselves today.
"I want to remind everyone that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria states in Section 14(2)(b) that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government. I assure you that we will continue to protect the lives and property of our people.
"As your Governor, I remain committed to the principles of good governance that are at the heart of our MORE Agenda. Thank you for your peace and resilience."
