EKEREMOR & MAYAN: Royalty, Top Dignitaries, Others Grace Niger Delta Philanthropist Carnival-Like Marriage
The marriage atmosphere at the Delta Careers' College in Warri, Delta State, could best be described as carnival-like with high profile guests comprising of traditional royal fathers, representatives of government, business moguls among other dignitaries across the Niger Delta region stormed the reception of a philanthropist, Chief Benjamin Ekeremor and Mrs. Joy Dere Ekeremor (formerly Miss Joy Dere Mayan) in celebration of their union, on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Leading the traditional rulers is the Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom in the Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty, Pere Stanley Perediegha Luke-Kalanama VIII (JP), the Pere of the Akugbene-Mein Kingdom and 1st Vice Chairman of the Delta state Council of Traditional Rulers. Also in attendance are members of Gbaramatu Traditional Council of Chiefs.
Leading top government officials in attendance at the marriage-of-the-year ceremony are High Chief (Dr.) Dennis Brutu Otuaro, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP); Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly.
Niger Delta oil-magnate and security expert, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Pondi, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) and Kalm Marine and Petroleum Services Limited; and Sir Godfrey Tare Pondi, the General Manager (Operations), TSSNL; Chief (Hon.) Simeon Bebenimibo (JP), the were also among dignitaries in attendance.
Other personalities are Hon. Godkows Angele, the Commissioner for Housing, Delta State; Hon. Alapala Ebitonmo, a member of the Delta State House of Assembly; Chief (Hon.) Favour Izoukumor, the Executive Director of Socials in Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC); Chief Boro Opudu, the chairman of Delta State Waterways/Land Security; Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba, a former Commissioner for Oil and Gas in Delta State; Godwin Edumogiren, former Executive Assistant to the governor of Delta State, Dr Paul Bebenimibo, media consultant to Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo; Hon. Paul Kurugbe, former 2nd member of SUBEB, Delta State; King Pereama Freetown, the Numupere ll of Ijaw Nation, among several guests.
Earlier, the handsome groom in a traditional marriage setting fulfilled the conditions in the payment of dowry at the family compound of the bride in Cele Street, Udu Express Junction, Udu L.G.A.
The latest couple, in company of their families and friends, made for the reception venue where Izon highlife musician Dr. Alfred Ezonebi (JKing) and the Because of Love Crew performed live in entertainment of the newly married couple and their guests.
Highlights of the ceremony which was beseige by a mammoth crowd include the cutting of the gigantic marriage cake and special dance by the latest couple.
Chief Ekeremor hails from the family of Ekeremor Kpoko of Asana Quarters in Peretoru Town, Ekeremor L.G.A. of Bayelsa State, and also from Gbekebor in Burutu L.G.A. of Delta State, while the bride Mrs. Joy Dere Ekeremor is from the family of Alexander Pikolo Mayan of Agoro Quarters in Ofofunama Town, Egbema Kingdom, in Ovia South-West Local Government of Edo State.
