EDUCATION: Quiz and Essay competition not politically motivated says Mulade, as Stakeholders laud CEPEJ Boss

The National Coordinator of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade, PhD, has stressed that the annually sponsored Chief Sheriff Mulade Inter-Local Government Peace and Unity Quiz and Essay Competition is not politically motivated, but rather driven by his passion to ensure that children from rural and riverine communities compete favourably with their counterparts in the urban areas.

Mulade, who is aspiring to represent Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 general elections, gave the assertion during the programme which was held at the Africa 4 Peace Games Village at Ugolo near Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of CEPEJ, who is also the sponsor of the competition, recalled his humble beginnings in the creek communities, noting that education and determination had helped shape his success story.

He revealed further that the annual competition was designed to encourage academic excellence among children in riverine and rural communities, and to bridge the gap between quality education in the rural/riverine areas with that of the urban areas.

Mulade, who is the Ibe Serimowei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West LGA, lamented the challenges of quality learning in the creeks and called on government at all levels, corporate organizations and well-meaning Nigerians to support educational development in coastal communities.
