EDUCATION: 53 pupils, students of Kokodiagbene to benefit as Amb. Powede rolls out Scholarship worth N1.2m
The Special Adviser to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Amb. Hon. Uyadonghan Powede (JP), is set to dole out scholarship to pupils and students of Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West council area of Delta State.
The Special Adviser, who was a former chairman of Kokodiagbene community, revealed that the noble gesture is part of the activities marking his birthday, among others on Friday, November 15, 2024.
According to the celebrant, the scholarship will see 21 students of Kokodiagbene Model Secondary School and 32 pupils of Ebiabu Primary School as beneficiaries of the scheme.
The scholarship will cover the expenses for the free enrollment of secondary school students and that of primary school pupils in their forthcoming examinations.
"On the special occasion of my birth anniversary, I am using the occasion to give back to society, which in this instance, are the pupils and students of schools in Kokodiagbene community, Gbaramatu Kingdom," said Amb. Powede.
"In all, 21 secondary school students will receive N945,000 while 32 primary school pupils will receive N224,000, totalling N1,169,000 in cost of the forthcoming enrollment exercise for their exams," he added.
Speaking further he disclosed that, "I attended Ebiabu Primary School and so this gesture is from the old boys association and I am giving 32 slots to the primary school for their enrollment.
"Also, it was during my administration as chairman of Kokodiagbene that I brought in NECO and WAEC to the schools. On that singular honour, I am giving the secondary school 21 slots for enrollment in WAEC."
