DOUBRA & QUEENETH: Newlywed Couple Recount Journey of Love

updated 21 Oct, 2024

The energetic atmosphere was saturated with the feelings of love at the marriage reception of a former Gbaramatu Kingdom student association president, Comr. Doubra Jeremiah Timiyan, and his beloved 'Ayoro', Queeneth Doubra Timiyan (formerly Queeneth Emmanuel Allison), which held at The KFT Place in Warri, Delta State, on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Yet, and quite interesting too, is the fact that their relationship, which currently had blossomed into the status of husband and wife, first began on a twisted note that snowballed on their first meeting into conflict. In simple terms, they were sworn enemies!

"We actually met at the annual Amaseikumor Festival at Oporoza community in 2022. At first we were enemies," revealed Mrs. Queeneth in a chat with PENGlobal Social. "As at then he felt I was stubborn and so we don't like each other," she admitted.

“But not until after the NUIS convention in Bonny Island when we met again, we started talking and then became friends,” she revealed on the start of their friendship, which blossomed citing her calm, polite and reserved nature which arouse his curiosity in her. And that was how their friendship began.

Mrs. Queeneth, a graduate of Port Harcourt Polytechnic, Rumuola in Rivers State, described her husband as "straightforward, sincere, and somebody that keeps to his word; cannot be manipulated by anything, anybody (not even me); I love his self confidence, hardworking and determination," she confessed.

Their friendship had opened doors for more conversations for them to know more about each other. Down the new path in the journey of their friendship they both discovered interesting aspects of their lives that became a centre of attraction leading to their conclusion as the right pair to settle down in marriage.

Comr. Timiyan who never imagined in his heart that someday in the future they would both tie the nuptial knot, revealed that the attraction that made him to take the bold step to marry his once enemy now turned friend emanated from “her maturity, inclusive of her exposure, understanding, truthfulness, and being somebody that has genuine love in her and posseses inner beauty.”

The former president of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) in a note of counsel tasked those still searching, particularly the men, not to be scared to embrace marriage, noting that, "You may think that because it's a new environment, you may not be able to handle some things or make mistakes, but the truth is, if you have to make mistakes, now is the right time to make the mistake in order to take correction.

"Delaying marriage in itself will not bypass those things you're scared of. However that doesn't take away the fact that you have to be ready as a person, mentally and otherwise. Once you meet that requirement I advise you take the bold step," and cautioned “Don't make your girlfriend a wife, or your wife a girlfriend.”

For the ladies, he counseled, "I know it's difficult to tell who really loves you, I feel that with prayer you'll make the right choice. But above all, always be real."

The reception ceremony was packed with colourful entertainment activities aimed at giving the couple an unforgettable memory and treat on their special day. And it sure did!
