The people of Diebiri Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, rising from a general meeting called by the leadership of the Governing Council in Warri on Friday, September 15, 2023, have unanimously agreed to give total support to the Council as the administrative organ that has powers to preside over the kingdom affairs.

This was contained, among others, in a communique that was adopted by the general assembly at the general meeting that had in attendance members of various communities making up Diebiri Kingdom.

Some of the executive members of the Diebiri Governing Council that were in attendance during the general meeting include its chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Orubu; its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Henry Suoware; and a National Deputy Leader, Pst. Hon. Ako Samuel.

At the general meeting, members of the various communities during the interactive session, emphasized on the need for unity and peace as the people of Diebiri Kingdom are one big family, as such there is no need for harbouring thoughts aimed at causing division in the kingdom, stressing that there is room for all to benefit from the God-given resources the kingdom is endowed with.

The communique as made available to PENGlobal Community by the chairman of the Governing Council, reads as follows:

1. Communities in Diebiri Kingdom are as listed in her Constitution (as amended 2019). Anything short of the listed communities in the Constitution is bogus and unacceptable.

2. Diebiri Community is the ancestral home of the people of Diebiri Kingdom, while Batan Community on the other hand is just one of the several communities that makes up Diebiri Kingdom. These two communities are distinct and not to be yoked together. Same is applicable to the other communities in Diebiri Kingdom.

3. All Diebiri communities as enshrined in her constitution (as amended 2019) is administratively within the purview of the Diebiri Governing Council, who in conjunction with the various communities structures, sees to the overall wellbeing of her indigenous people.

4. The (or rather, one of the) claimant community in the Ugbanabou Marginal Field is Diebiri Community, which holds in Trust the aspirations of her communities - a position unanimously agreed by all.

5. No amount of blackmail neither negative social media publicity/writeups nor unverifiable claims making the rounds about the leadership of Diebiri Community would deter us from our role in bringing about meaning growth to our people.

6. We gather here this day (15/09/2023) to make a clarion call to all 'true' sons and daughters of Diebiri Kingdom to allow for unhindered work on the Ugbanabou Marginal Field as the stake of Diebiri Community (all of us) would be protected by the Leadership.

7. Finally, we use this medium to appeal to all those with dissenting opinions to sheath their swords and work in conjunction with the leadership of Diebiri Kingdom in engendering harmonious environment for meaningful development to strive. This is, so as to key into the M.O.R.E AGENDA of our amiable and indefatigable Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon., Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori.

It would be recalled that there have been leadership tussle in Diebiri kingdom, recently heightened with the coming of an oil prospecting company, Kalm Marine & Petroleum Services Limited, that is set to commence operations in one of the communities in the kingdom.
