Delta Scholarship Board Chairman Agediga Endorses IPF, Promises Massive Support
The chairman of the Delta State Scholarship/Bursary Board, Amb. Shedrack Agediga, has thrown his weight behind the Ijaw Publishers' Forum (IPF) when he played host to a delegation of the Forum at his.Effurun residence in Delta State on Friday, March 22.
Agediga who is the founder of the Shedrack Agediga Foundation (SAF), and also the immediate past Executive Director of Project Research and Statistics in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) commended the newly formed Ijaw news agency which he described as a welcome development and an initiative that should be achieved.
The delegation which was led by its national president Comr. Ozobo Austin, briefed the Ijaw leader of the body's aims and objectives, noting that distorted reports against the Ijaws and the Niger Delta region were a big concern, hence the formation of the body.
IPF further seek for areas of collaboration and partnership to strengthen the relationship between the scholarship board and the Forum.
Responding, Amb. Agediga harped on the need for objectivity and balanced reportage while urging IPF members to approach their works with discernment, devoid of bias and sentiment.
While the activist and political strategist advocated for the IPF to be structured like the Nigeria News Agency, NAN, he however counseled members to be steadfast to the vision birthing the Forum.
Amb. Agediga further praised the IPF for its significant positive impacts in propagating Ijaw and Niger Delta stories, and pledged his support towards achieving the Forum's operational needs.
In a note of appreciation, the IPF Secretary, Comr. Magbei Tare, expressed the Forum's gratitude to Amb. Agediga for his invaluable guidance and motivation.
Other members of the IPF delegation in attendance include Oyinbi Onduku, Vice President; Bibaikefie Perez, Assistant Secretary; Kagbala Ezekiel, Public Relations Officer; Ugedi Mike, Financial Secretary; Abai Francis, Chief Researcher; Ekpegha Tamaraupreye and Demebide Anthony, members.
