The Egbema Political Forum, EPF, the apex political organization in Egbema Kingdom, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, has appealed to all well meaning stakeholders in the kingdom to remain calm while it engages the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, over the exclusion of Egbema from the recently released commissioners delegate list.

The group made the appeal in an official statement it released on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, and that was signed by its president and general secretary, Hon. Bishop Sunny Jero (JP) and Amb. Jude Ebitimi Ukori (JP), respectively.

According to the EPF in the statement, the "call on all aggrieved sons and daughters of Egbema Kingdom to give peace a chance, over the non inclusion/ consideration of Egbema Ijaw sons and daughters for appointment as Commissioner designate into the executive cabinet of the state government" became necessary due to the "series of agitations and threats, following the nomination of the State Cabinet members, which could degenerate to a crisis situation."

The EPF also said that while it is not "opposed to any group or individual yearning for equity in the sharing of the spoils of politics in Warri North, haven considered the role played by the ijaws of Egbema Kingdom in the emergence of our amiable Governor," however, added that it has become worried that the grievances, if left unchecked, "could polarize the PDP family within its rank and file, and possibly lead to breakdown of law and order if not nipped in the bud."

The apex political body therefore call for restraint on the part of the aggrieved and reaffirmed its belief that the governor will do what is right towards addressing the issues at stake, just as it takes major step to engage the state governor.

"We therefore call on all stakeholders to exercise restraint while we make efforts to interface with His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the state with a view of resolving all the issues raised amicably.

"We are mindful that His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sherrif O. E. Oborevwori being a grassroot politician understands the dynamics of politics having good intention for all Deltans and ours can not be in isolation. His Excellency can be trusted to promote fairness, equity and justice being a friend of Egbema, hence the massive mobilization during the last election. We therefore believed that the executive Governor of our dear state is capable to do the needful to address our issues," he assured.

It would be recalled that the 26 nominated commissioners-designate list on the floor of the Delta State House of Assembly, expected to be screened on Tuesday has been generating furore across the state. Asides the Ijaws of Egbema protesting their exclusion from the governor's list, youths of Ewu, Okparabe and Arhavwarien also took their protest to Government House, Asaba, on the grounds that nobody from that axis was given a commissioner slot.
