As the 2027 general elections draw closer, a pressure group under the auspices of Warri Peace Ambassadors has thrown its weight behind one of the top contenders in the Warri Federal Constituency for the House of Representatives, Chief Sheriff Mulade, PhD, through an official endorsement of his candidacy.

This is contained in an official statement from leaders of the group, Mrs Tessy Oki and Friday Ugedi, President and Secretary, respectively, over the weekend.

The group also called for unity of purpose among the various ethnic nationalities of Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo, as political actors have started to align and realign their interests ahead of the general elections.

"For us, the Warri Peace Ambassadors, the 2027 general elections is not just  another season of electioneering, we are committed to performing our civic duty of mobilizing and voting credible political leaders at the different strata of government," the group said.

"The 2027 general elections present to us once again another golden opportunity for truly patriotic citizens to choose competent leaders that are capable of representing their general interests, and Chief Sheriff mulade, Ph.D, is the right choice for the Warri Federal Constituency seat in the National Assembly," the group asserted.

The Warri Peace Ambassadors specifically emphasized that, for citizens of Warri residents in Delta State, having looked at the caliber of contenders jostling for the House of Representatives for Warri Federal Constituency, it "hereby called on the electorates to massively support the candidacy of Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade, PhD.

"Our position of advocating for support for Chief Mulade is centered on his long years of grassroots advocacy for the people of the Warri Federal Constituency and beyond. His antecedents speak louder. He is a household name in the grassroots and a leader that is easily accessible to members of his constituents," the group stressed.

Speaking further they added, “More importantly, Chief Mulade stands for peaceful coexistence among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo ethnic nationalities in the Warri Federal Constituency.  As a United Nations' peace ambassador and a bridge builder, he has over the years employed the weapon of sports and education to unite the people.

“We therefore use this medium to call on all faithfuls and supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) political party to massively vote for Chief Mulade, a candidate they can trust and a leader whose genuine interest is centered on delivering people-impactful governance.

"This is not a call based on sentiment, but one that is centered on competence, capability, exposure, and practical field knowledge to deliver efficient and effective representation to the people of Warri Federal Constituency."

"Warri residents should not miss this golden opportunity once again presented to them. It is time for a positive change in the Warri Federal Constituency," the group charged.
