DELTA 2027: Chief Mulade's vision, scopic demands as activist joins House of Reps contest
Tagged "A Mandate to Serve 2027", Delta State and Gbaramatu-born development advocate, environmental rights activist, entrepreneur, and United Nations Peace Ambassador, Chief Sheriff Mulade, Ph.D, has once again presented his candidacy to represent the people of Warri Federal Constituency to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
However, the former member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has aligned his interest with the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general elections to pursue and achieve his ambition.
Central to Chief Mulade’s vision is a commitment to empowering the most vulnerable members of society, including youths, women, and the elderly. He emphasized that "these groups are critical to societal growth and deserve targeted interventions, sustainable support programs, and policies that enhance their participation in the socio-economic development of the constituency."
For Chief Mulade, who is the Ibe Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom and the National Coordinator of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), there is a need for total commitment to a general cause as he declares his interest, and not just the desire to win elections to serve out selfish interest.
“I am your own, and I pledge to provide purposeful, inclusive, and result-oriented representation. My administration will focus on economic empowerment, employment creation, skills acquisition, and ensuring accessible and dependable governance for all constituents,” he vowed.
Chief Mulade, who is a grassroots politician that is not new to political contest, asides his slogan of "Mandate to Serve 2027", demanded from politicians or fellow contestants an issue-based campaign as the political season deepens ahead of the election year.
This demand of the Ph.D holder of International Relations is not surprising as Chief Mulade has over the years advocated for quality representation from politicians and public office holders—one that can only be achieved when contestants are properly informed on the challenges facing their constituents.
By demanding for an issue-based campaign from fellow contestants, the UN Peace Ambassador is saying "No!" to the tactics of politicians that are fond of playing on the emotional sentiments of the electorates by heating up the polity with mundane issues of religion, ethnicity, and even political affiliations to divert attention from the economical and social challenges facing the people.
"I further urge politicians across the constituency to engage in issue-based campaigns grounded in civility and decorum, steering clear of personal attacks, hate, and divisive rhetoric," Chief Mulade appealed.
“After the election, we remain one indivisible people. Our collective focus must be on unity, progress, and the welfare of every member of society,” he added, further sealing his reputation as a peace ambassador.
Another of his demand as he declares to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives is centered on the important role that voters are expected to play in choosing the credible representatives in governance.
This demand on the electorate once again brings to the fore one of the problems of electing credible leaders in Nigeria, as most often a voter chooses his/her preferred candidates sentimentally, rather than objectively by using past performance as a criteria to judge.
Buttressing this in his declaration, Chief Mulade appealed to the electorates to make "informed decisions at the polls," emphasizing the importance of choosing leaders with "integrity, vision, and a track record of service" as the panacea to good governance that is people-, and not cabal-centered.
Chief Mulade, who is the Chairman of Delta State Mini-Football Association, and of recent, was elected as Treasurer of the Izon National Congress (INC), in conclusion, assured his constituents that his tenure, if given the mandate to serve, will embody transparency, accountability, and a deep commitment to elevating the Warri Federal Constituency to new heights of development and peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups.
