CONDOLENCE: Pride of Peace of Gbaramatu mourns Pa Clark, says Nigeria has lost 'A Pillar'

A nongovernmental organisation, the Pride of Peace of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has expressed their sympathy in condolence to the family of late Chief Dr. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark over the death of the elder statesman and national leader at 97 years.

The group expressed their condolences in an official statement issued by its spokesperson, Chief Peter Lagos Bubor, alongside its Chairman, Chief Olufemi Godwin, and Secretary, Chief Timothy Ojuyaina, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

The Pride of Peace of Gbaramatu said that Pa. Clark was a pillar in not only the Ijaw Nation and in the Niger Delta region but in Nigeria at large, and as such his death was a collosal loss to the entire nation.

The statement reads, "The death of our national leader, Pa Edwin Clark, is a great loss to Nigeria, the Niger Delta states and to the Izon nation at large.

"We, the Pride of Peace of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, send our condolences and express our deepest sympathy to the family and the people of Kiagbodo community for this passing away in this difficult time.

"Pa. Clark, you are a pillar in our nation, especially in the Niger Delta. Your death has created a huge vacuum. May your soul rest in perfect peace," they prayed.

The group prayed for the repose of the soul of the convener of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) as well as urged the family and Niger Deltans to be strong.

"We also remember your legacy left behind. It is our prayers that may the Almighty God strengthen the entire family and our people. Professor, kindly accept our sympathy," they added.

Recall that the late Pa Clark breathed his last at his private residence in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday night, surrounded by family members, as announced by the family.
