COMMUNITY DEVT: Bobo leads Igoba Town Planning Committee, appreciates Aketekpe, Tompolo, others

Chief (Hon.) Friday Bobo has emerged as the Planning Committee Chairman of Igoba Federated Community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The planning committee was inaugurated by the Executive Chairman of the community, Apst. Teibowei Gift, at a general meeting that held in the community town hall on Friday, February 21, 2025.

Other members of the Planning Committee are Endurance Uttoh (Secretary), Pst. Saint Ogo, Gen. Naiye Dude, Boan. John Oru, and Blessing Akpoko.

According to Apst. Teibowei, the planning committee members are to oversee the overall development of the ancient community by formulating plans and overseeing the execution of such plans towards the advancement of the creek community.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Bobo, who is the Ebi-Ibananaowei of the kingdom, thanked the people of Igoba for entrusting him and other members of the committee with such a "sensitive assignment" and pledged, on behalf of other members, to live up to desired expectations.

The Planning Committee Chairman hailed the Pere of the ancient kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe, Agadagba, for His Majesty's peaceful and progressive reign that has continued to usher in more development and growth to the communities in the kingdom.

He also thanked the Izon Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation, High Chief Dr Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo; the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, among other prominent sons and daughters in the kingdom, for their developmental strides.

On the tasks ahead, Chief Bobo noted that there would obviously be challenges ahead especially as it concerns illegal structures already on ground, but he appealed to the people of Igoba to join hands with the committee to ensure that the community moves forward and join the ranks of other progressive communities.

The meeting was attended by the elders, chiefs, women and youths of Igoba community were other issues affecting the growth of the community were discussed.

Igoba community is one of the compound communities in the ancient kingdom situated in the creek, a geographical position that has seemed to seclude it from major Infrastructural developments in the modern Nigeria setting. It is hoped that this latest development will open the creek community to more opportunities for growth.
