Speaking to PENGlobal Community on the successful inauguration, Mr. Douperegha, a native of Gbaramatu Kingdom, thanked all stakeholders including lecturers and students stydying Izon language in the institute, for their laudable support, especially in the success of the inauguration and the Izon Cultural Day celebration.

The NUIS COEWA chapter President pronised that his leadership will be student-centered especially in looking out for the welfare of students, majority of whom he said are facing a lot of challenges, particularly in the areas of finance and academic.

On the area of finance, Mr. Douperegha lamented the non-inclusion of NCE students in the DESOPADEC Bursary for scholarship benefits, which he noted would have gone a long way to ameliorate the plights of students.

He said, "DESOPADEC Bursary don't recognize NCE. By the special grace of God, I will look forward to advocating for the inclusion of NCE students in DESOPADEC Bursary.

"The DESOPADEC Bursary should be for students from oil producing areas in tertiary institution, not only Degree students. And so, we appeal to the Board management of the state government agency that we also deserve to benefit from its scholarship," he added.

On academic and hygiene, he promised to organise tutorials especially for carryover students in order to improve their grades and performance, as well as provide other hygiene reliefs for female students.

Among other programmes he said the exco aims to accomplish include the promotion of the Izon language and the sustenance of their cultural heritage as a unique people by awareness creation among students, as well as rallying Izon-Ibe students to form a common front in unity.

Other highlights of the inauguration include the presentation of certificates to the newly sworn-in exco members, cultural dance entertainment, wrestling and other competitions.
