CLONED WEBSITE: NDDC Alerts, Cautions Public to be Wary of Imposters

17 Sep, 2024

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has alerted the public on its discovery of the existence of a cloned website of the Commission by those it described as "imposters on the prowl" with the intent to defraud innocent stakeholders of the federal government agency that is tasked with the development of the Niger Delta region.

The Commission made the findings known in a disclaimer it issued on its official verified X (formerly Twitter) page @NDDCOnline, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

The statement reads:

"Our attention has been drawn to a fake website cloned by some mischievous persons to deceive and possibly dupe unsuspecting members of the public.

"We wish to alert members of the public to this fraudulent activity by some dubious individuals who impersonate the Commission through a cloned NDDC website.

"The public should note that while the official website of the NDDC is nddc.gov.ng, the cloned site is using nddcgov.com."

The Commission therefore warned the public to be cautious so as not to fall victim to the criminal elements, and to report such fraudulent activities to security agencies for actions to be taken.

"We advise members of the public to be guided and careful not to fall prey to the scams and schemes of this website or any other impostors claiming to represent the NDDC. Anyone who deals with such persons or entities does so at their own risk and peril.

"Those who come across these fraudulent activities should report to security agencies for necessary action.

"We urge members of the public to be careful and circumspect when accessing information on the activities of the NDDC. For emphasis, the official NDDC website is [nddc.gov.ng], and it has a secure connection and a verified domain name," the statement added.
