Pa (Dr.) Prince Phillip Potoki Tonfawei, a native of Agugu quarter in Kokodiagbene Town and Gbajor quarter in Benikrukru Town, both of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, who passed away at the age of 95 years, is to be laid to rest in his hometown, Benikrukru, on Friday, April 11, 2025.

In the burial arrangement signed by His Grace, Archbishop Dr. Amb. Phillip Tonfawei (JP) and Mr. Isaac Tonfawei for the family and children, respectively, the body of the late Pa. Tonfawei will depart the Navy Hospital Mortuary along NPA Expressway, Effurun to Miller Waterfront at 12noon on Friday.

A lying-in-State and funeral service will hold on arrival in Benikrukru Town. After interment a social wake-keep ceremony will take place with music supplied by Dr. Alfred Izon-Ebi and His Because of Love Crew.

Meanwhile, one of the sons, Mr. Daniel S. Tonfawei, in a statement, has expressed his grief over the demise of his father whom he described as a devoted and selfless leader who will forever be remembered for his positive contributions to community development as well as to individuals.

Part of the statement reads, "I, Mr. Daniel S. Tonfawei, mourns the death of my beloved father, Pa. Prince Phillip Tonfawei, a rare gem whose life was marked by integrity, wisdom, and selfless devotion. Pa Prince Phillip Tonfawei was a man of reputable character, admirable qualities, and an exemplary lifestyle worthy of emulation.

"His contributions to the development and establishment of Benikrukru community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West, Delta State, will never be forgotten. His gentle nature earned him the respect of both young and old, while his loving and self-sacrificing spirit remains unmatched.

"Until his death, he remained steadfast in his faith in Jehovah God and love for his people. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him," the statement reads.

The late Pa. Tonfawei passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the age of 95 years and is survived by a wife, 13 children, 43 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren among other relatives. May his soul rest peacefully, Amen.
