BLESSING & PRECIOUS: Finally, A Dream Come True as Dr. Iyamu, Bekenawei, Others Add Colour to Egbengben Celebration of Love

updated 11 Dec, 2023

It was a treasured moment for Comr. Blessing Laide, the Youth President of Kokodiagbene Youth Development Movement (KYDM), and for his lovely wife, Mrs. Precious Laide, as they were joined together in a white wedding at the Christ Practitioners Church (CPC) in Warri, and later hosted families and other guests to a colourful reception at the NNPC Junior Staff Club on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

Comr. Laide, who is popularly known as Egbengben, and was elected president recently to lead the youth body of Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, exchanged wedding rings with his beloved after both couple took their marital vow in a ceremony that was officiated by the General Overseer of CPC, Pastor Steven Ken.

The ceremony thereafter moved to the venue of the reception party which was chaired by Dr. Paddy Iyamu Emmanuel, a human resources management consultant, security expert, entrepreneur and philanthropist, and founder of the Dr. Paddy Foundation.

Other guests in attendance include the chairman of Kokodiagbene community, Amb. Pedro Bekenawei; Double Chief (Engr.) George Timiyan (JP), Chief Paul Ukuli, Hon. Jimoh Keniye, Engr. Johnson Powede, Hon. Kelvin Ojogun, Hon. Emmanuel Juwegha, Hon. Shadrach Ebikeme (president of Gbaramatu Youth Council, Worldwide), Barr. Frank Ekpemupolo, Comr. Bene Mamamu, among other personalities.

The reception ceremony which was coordinated by MC Abioka and later by MC Be The Light began proper with an opening prayer from Pastor Ken after the newly wed couple, who had changed into their traditional Ijaw native attires, made an ecstatic entry into the colourful venue swarmed by group of women that ushered them to their special stand.

The chairman of the occasion, Dr. Iyamu, while delivering his speech advised the newly wed couple to always remember the God-factor in their marriage as there are bound to be disagreement between them, but that with patience, understanding and God at the centre, their union will certainly be blessed.

Two major highlights of the celebration of love was when the couple cut their wedding cake and romantically fed each other, and were also put to the test by MC Be The Light to give each other a lengthy kiss before doing their dance as part of their entertainment to guests in attendance to music supplied by Prince Abraham and his Ijaw United Brothers Band of Africa.

From there on it was dance, dance, and dance, with the exchange of gifts and other forms of appreciation from guests on the couple.

"There is only one Happiness in life; to love and to be loved. Here is to a lifetime of Love and Happiness," said the couple in their toast. Indeed, there is no happiness in the absence of love. Here is wishing them happiness in their union, with fruitfulness and prosperity. Congratulations to Comr. and Mrs. Blessing Laide alias Egbengben.
