BIOGRAPHY: Late Hon. Wilson Independence Gege Agediga
Thursday, June 27, in the year 2024 will forever remain etched in the memories of families and friends of the late Hon. Wilson Independence Gege Agediga as they convey the remains of the father of four children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, to Sokebolou community in Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, for the final burial rite.
The deceased is the eldest brother of the founder of the Shedrack Agediga Foundation (SAF), a former Executive Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), and currently the Chairman of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board.
The late Hon. Wilson Independence Gege Arighabofa Agediga was born on October 1st, 1960, into the families of Late Gege Arighabofa Agediga of Fikesei and Igborugbo quarters of Sokebolou Town, Kenika quarters of Ogulagha Town in Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu L.G.A., Delta State, and Egbenebor Idumu of Agge Town in Ekeremor L.G.A. of Bayelsa State and Mama Binkayai Agediga (Nee Aruwei) of Oporoza and Kunukunuma communities of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West L.G.A of Delta State.
Late Hon. Wilson Gege Agediga started his early life at Sokebolou Town where he attended Fikesei Primary School, Sokebolou (1965-1970), and proceeded to Ogidigben Grammar School from 1976 to 1979 where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC). He later went on to become an auxiliary teacher at Fikesei Primary School, Sokebolou.
Late Hon. Wilson Gege Agediga was a dedicated Christian and was passionate about the Kingdom business. He attended the Cherubim and Seraphim church, Beautiful Gate Zion, Sokebolou, at a tender age and was a member of the choir, and later went on to Seraphic School of Theology for a six-month course at Ugbonla, National Headquarters, Ondo State (1991/1992 session) where he was ordained PASTOR by His Holiness, Rt. Rev. Dr. Elisa Lene, King of Zion the first of blessed memory. He worshipped with National Apostolic Church as an active member when he relocated to Warri. Late Hon. Wilson Gege Agediga remained a devoted Christian until his death.
Late Hon. Wilson Gege Agediga was the people’s man who never failed to contribute his quota towards the development and the wellbeing of his Sokebolou community. As someone who believes in his capacity to provide more service, the late Hon. Wilson Gege Agediga contested and was elected Chairman of Sokebolou community from 2008 to 2010.
In his tenure as Chairman several developmental projects including teachers’ quarters for both primary and secondary schools were attracted to the community and were toughly executed.
The late Hon. Wilson Gege Agediga had earlier gone into politics was elected Councilor representing Ward II (Ogulagha/Iduwini ward) in 1996. Hon. Wilson Gege Agediga was a man of the people, who was present for everybody that came his way. He was a great footballer of all time and a socialite.
The late Hon. Wilson Gege Agediga was also a successful businessman and was doing contracts with SPDC and other companies. Until his death, he was the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Gewil Ventures Nigeria Limited.
Late Hon. Wilson Gege Agediga who died at the age of 74 years is survived by his wife Mrs. Victoria Agediga (Nee Enebraho), four children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. May his soul rest in the Bosom of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
