The National Coordinator of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, Chief Sheriff Mulade, and the Delta State Coordinator of Widows Welfare Scheme / Technical Head, World Bank Delta Cares Livelihood Support Unit, Dr. Isioma Okonta, has emerged as recipients of the Democracy Newsline Newspaper Award (DNNA) of Excellence 2024.

The duo emerged from an opinion poll conducted by a team of experts as the Democracy Newsline Newspaper prepares to mark its 14th anniversary, which coincides with the 64th Independence anniversary of Nigeria.

The information is contained in a recent press statement that was issued by Elder Olalekan Aiyenigba on behalf of the management of the Democracy Newsline Newspaper in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to Elder Aiyenigba, the duo were found worthy of the recognitions for their outstanding contributions in society, particularly as Chief Mulade has demonstrated himself as an outstanding environmental and peace activist in the Niger Delta region, while Dr. Okonta has provided the much needed leadership as Coordinator of the Unit which has made it to stand out among its contemporaries in Nigeria.

Speaking further, he said that the DNNA is an annual event wherein individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers and sectors of operations are being recognized with Awards of Excellence to encourage them to do more for the nation and humanity.

He noted that the award of honor is an event of an arm of Michabifem Ventures Limited that publishes Democracy Newsline Newspaper and online blog, bridging the gap between the government and its citizens as guaranteed by international laws and the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), being a member of the fourth estate of the realm.

The presentation of the Award of Excellence will be held on the 9th of October, 2024, at the National Merit House, Abuja, by 10am prompt.
