AWARD: EMT Foundation Bags Philanthropic Monarch of the Year at Benikrukru Christmas Festival 2024
For its noble efforts in bringing succour to the less privilege and the needy in society, the Esther Matthew Tonlagha (EMT) Foundation, a nongovernmental organisation established by Delta State and Kogi-born couples, Mr. Matthew and Dcns. (Mrs.) Esther Tonlagha, has been honoured with the Philanthropic Monarch of the Year (2024) award.
The recognition was presented to the EMT Foundation by the Honourable Ladies of Bayelsa State as led by its Chairlady, Hon. Princess Ogbotimibo, at the just concluded Benikrukru Christmas Festival in Benikrukru community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, on Christmas Day.
Dcns. Esther Tonlagha received the award in excitement on behalf of the EMT Foundation that is known for its gigantic strides in humanitarianism especially in its giveaways and empowerment programmes.
Dcns. Esther Tonlagha thanked the group for the recognition and for their honouring the EMT Foundation with the award, while hinting that the NGO's (EMT Foundation) efforts is a way for them giving back to the society and contributing their parts to long term solution through human capacity building including short term measures.
Talking about empowerment, the EMT Foundation, of recent, precisely on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Jubilee Conference Center in Effurun, Delta State, handed out starter packs worth millions of Naira to its Batch A beneficiaries of its vocational organised skills training programme to equip beneficiaries with practical skills in barbing, makeup, catering, cake and event management, among others crafts.
The Honourable Ladies of Bayelsa State, known by its acronym OLOBASS, was established with the mission to help the less privileged, the widows and orphans, and has embarked on vocational training programmes such as tailoring, handcraft, shoe making, making of liquid soap, make up, among others crafts.
According to its Chairlady, Hon. Ogbotimibo, the group was impressed by the noble virtues the Tonlagha demonstrated in passionately rising to the needs of the less privileged, stressing that such efforts are worthy of commendations, hence the award.
A photo portrait of Mr. Matthew Tonlagha (who is the Managing Director of Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited) along his wife was also presented to the founders of the EMT Foundation among other picture frames at the event, in appreciation for their goodwill to humanity.
While the award is not the first and will definitely not be the last for the EMT Foundation, which is known for its epic interventions in lifting lives from the trenches, the award has nonetheless highlight the recognition the Foundation has gained and the appreciation it is receiving from observers on the gigantic efforts it is playing to affect lives positively.
