AMASUO-UGEH FESTIVAL 2024: Kokodiagbene announces dates for annual cultural fiesta, unveils official wrapper

The chairman of the planning committee for the annual Amasuo-Ugeh Festival in Kokodiagbene community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Double Chief George Timiyan JP, has announced the dates for commencement of the 2024 edition of the cultural festival.

According to Double Chief Timiyan, the 2024 edition of the Amasuo-Ugeh Festival, which carries the theme 'No Place Like Home', will take place from Friday, December 20, 2024, to Monday, December 23, 2024, in the community's playground.

This is contained in a notice that was signed and released by the planning committee chairman, pre-informing natives of the oil-rich riverine community and the general public to get prepared.

Double Chief Timiyan also unveiled the official wrapper (popularly known as Aso-ebi), the traditional fashion outfit chosen for the 2024 edition of the festival. He added that those interested in getting the wrapper, which he said is to be worn with any white top outfit, can reach out to Chief Mrs. Ebidoumene Ojogun in the urban city of Warri and Mrs Doris Eguare at home in Kokodiagbene.

The chairman of the planning committee also stated that high profile guests within the kingdom are expected to grace the 2024 edition which he said will be packed with breathtaking cultural and other entertainment activities.

Part of the notice reads, "This is a pre-information to all sons and daughters of Kokodiagbene Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria.

"We're excited to announce the upcoming Amasuo-Ugeh Festival, taking place from December 20th to 23rd 2024. We expect all our sons and daughters within and outside the Community to come prepared with your family for the festival.

"This year's event will be an unforgettable experience, featuring traditional dances, dressing, and food; cultural displays and exhibitions; opportunities to reconnect with family and friends; and prayer sessions, praise, and worship.

"A lot of dignitaries are expected, including the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II JP, Aketekpe, Agadagba; High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), the Ibe Ebidouwei of Izon Nation; His Excellency, Dcn (Barr.) Kingsley Otuaro, former deputy governor of Delta State; Mr. Matthew Tonlagha, GMD, Maton Nigeria Limited; High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Pondi, MD Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited; High Chief Amb. Dr. Godspower Gbenekama JP, the Fiyewei of Gbaramatu Kingdom; High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator, Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP); Rt. Hon. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor, Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly; and a host of others expected to grace the occasion.

"Mark your calendars and please prepare towards this year's wonderful celebration. The Aso-ebi wrappers, which is to be worn with any white top, is now available. Please reach out to Chief Mrs. Ebidoumene Ojogun in Warri and Mrs Doris Eguare at home in Kokodiagbene for yours. We look forward to seeing you there," the statement concludes.
