AMASUO-UGEH 2023: Otuaro, Guwor, Pondi, Others for Kokodiagbene Annual Festival
Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, will on Friday, December 22, 2023, host the 16th edition of its annual Amasuo-Ugeh Festival, with guest appearances from the immediate-past deputy governor of the state, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro; the Speaker of the state house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; the member representing Burutu Federal constituency in House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi (chairman of the day).
Also expected as special guests of honour include the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Chief (Engr.) Kestin Pondi; the Chairman of the state waterways and land security, Chief Boro Opudu; Hon. Eniye Aruwei (vice chairman of the day), among other personalities.
The planning committee chairman, Chief (Engr.) George Timiyan (JP), who is the Miyenkeremowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom and the Mein Ibe-desimowei of Ogulagha Kingdom, assures all sons and daughters of the coastal settlement as well as Gbaramatuans and Deltans at large, that the 16th edition is an experience they don't want to miss or be told about.
While sharing updates on the forthcoming Amasuo-Ugeh Festival, the planning committee chairman also disclosed that beginning with mobility to and fro the venue of the event, free boat transport has been provided to ferry all who will be attending.
He said, "For transport logistics, there will be separate boats in the morning for the women, for the elders, and for the youths who will be attending, to ferry them from the Newman's Jetty at NPA as from 8am prompt on Friday, the 22nd December, and bring them back on Saturday, the 23rd of December.
"We are therefore inviting all sons and daughters within and outside of the community, fellow Gbaramatu indigenes and Deltans at large, to come and be a part of this year's celebration which words alone cannot describe.
"They should come see for themselves the planned activities that have been put together to spice up the 16th edition, which I can only sum up as cultural fireworks. It will be surely entertaining and an unforgettable experience they don't want to miss during their lifetime," he assured.
The planning committee chairman also reinstated the committee's preparedness towards ensuring that the 16th edition of the Amasuo-Ugeh Festival live up beyond expectations.
"We (planning committee) are prepared and all arrangements are on top gear to make sure that the 16th Amasuo-Ugeh 2023 Festival will be in flying colours. Alfred Izon-Ibe known popularly as JKing and his music band will be live on ground to thrill participants of the festival, as well as traditional dancers across communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom will grace the event among others."
The 16th Amasuo-Ugeh Festival which is tagged: 'Think of What You Want to Give to Kokodiagbene, Not What You Want to take From Kokodiagbene' is a social ceremony that is geared towards boosting tourism and attracting community development and growth.
