AMASUO-UGEH 2023: It is Time to Give Back, Build Kokodiagbene — Chief Timiyan, Appeals to Stakeholders for Support
As the 16th edition of the Kokdiagbene Amasuo-Ugeh Festival, organised by the Comr. Pedro Bekenawei-led executives, for Friday, December 22 inches closer, the chairman of the festival's planning committee, Chief (Engr.) George Timiyan (JP), has disclosed that the 2023 edition is a call on all sons, daughters and other stakeholders to give back to the community towards its development and growth.
Chief Timiyan, who is the Miyenkeremowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom and the Mein Ibe-desimowei of Ogulagha Kingdom, stated further that the need for all stakeholders to contribute their quota to the community's development informed the theme of the Amasuo-Ugeh Festival 2023 edition which is: "Think of What You Want to Give to Kokodiagbene, Not What You Want to take From Kokodiagbene."
Speaking on the 16th edition of the forthcoming festival, the planning committee chairman noted that the aim of the festival is to encourage social interaction among the people which will in turn create opportunities for its development and growth.
"These developments include the building or expansion of settlements (houses), encouraging commerce (trade), attract government projects and nongovernment interventions across roads, electricity, pipe borne water, educational facilities, among others. Moreover, all of these will help to create jobs for the youths," Chief Timiyan added.
Speaking further, he said, "In this 2023 edition of the Amasuo-Ugeh Festival, there will be cultural dance, award presentation, games, musical entertainment with Alfred Izon-Ebi billed to be on ground to perform life. There will be refreshments and other exciting activities to make this edition colourful."
The planning committee chairman therefore call on all members of the community and other stakeholders to rise up to the task by contributing their quota just as he also urge them to make themselves available during the festival holding in Kokodiagbene.
"We are therefore calling on all sons and daughters of Kokodiagbene resident in the city of Warri and its environs as well as in other locations in Nigeria, even in the Diaspora, wherever they are, to come back home with their families to partake in this 16th edition.
"We are also appealing on all sons and daughters to contribute financially and otherwise towards making this 2023 edition a huge success. Our appeal also goes to other stakeholders such as companies doing business in our domains and good spirited individuals to support our vision of community development through the Amasuo-Ugeh Festival," he appealed.
Already, some members of Kokodiagbene community are already making donations into a UNION BANK Account number 0032062138 named TIMIYAN GEORGE, to raise funds for the Amasuo-Ugeh Festival 2023 edition.
Meanwhile, the planning committee chairman and its members are putting finishing touches to the preparations of the festival which promises to be bigger than others before it.
