AMASEIKUMOR 2024: Participants on Winning Streak As GYC Holds Raffle Draw
Various winners have emerged at the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) Worldwide organised Raffle Draw programme held as part of the activities streamlined to spice up the ongoing Amaseikumor Festival in Oporoza town, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Coordinated by Lawei Tracy, the Secretary General of the Gbaramatu Kingdom chapter of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, the Raffle Draw had winners go home with assorted prizes ranging from 10 kilogram bags of rice, vegetable oil, palm oil, spaghetti, cartons of indomie, T-shirts, drinks, among others.
"The Raffle Draw is the GYC way of giving back to the society and to make the Amaseikumor Festival look colourful," said Coordinator Lawei in a chat with PENGlobal Entertainment.
"The winners were excited. Initially when I told them about the Raffle Draw, some of them thought it was a prank or I was joking about it. Community leaders, elderly women, even the chairman of Oporoza community, Mr. Matthew Febaide, participated," he added.
However, the Oporoza community chairman who won a bag of rice had his winning overturned as his number tallied with an existing number of another participant.
The Raffle Draw programme which was fun-filled had participants pick up their tickets and tried their lucks with some smiling home with their prizes.
Speaking further on the initiative, Lawei appealed to the well-to-do to support the less privilege in the society by lending a helping hand, while she also assured participants that the Raffle Draw continues with other exciting prizes, such as generator, is to be won.
"The essence of IYC and GYC coming together is because of love. But I am telling the little back to society is to encourage all Gbaramatu people that let love lead always.
"Let us remember that we are brothers and sisters. At every point in time that we have something, we should be able to share; we should give a helping hand to everybody that we can, instead of hoarding resources to ourselves. We should not wait to be very rich before we give a helping hand.
"To participants, tomorrow is going to be brighter than it was today. There are more gifts to be won. So I am encouraging participants to come in their numbers tomorrow. Everybody is qualified. They are not paying for tickets; tickets are free, You just come and pick your tickets and you are automatically a winner if your ticket number tallies with any of the items tagged," she assured.
