A peace and development advocate in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Sheriff Mulade, has urged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to write his name in "Gold" by putting an end to the age-long communal crisis between the people of Aladja in Udu and Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South-West areas of the state.

The renowned human rights activist and the Ibe-Sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom made the call over the weekend, noting that several developmental opportunities have eluded the areas because of the unending conflict between the two neighbouring communities.

In his appeal, Chief Mulade said, "I want to strongly appeal to the State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to achieve this peace process as part of his landmark achievement within his 100 days in Office.

"Your Excellency, please the time has come to end all forms of inter-communal crises depriving our economic growth and infrastructural development of the State. We cannot continue as Deltans to wallow in communal conflicts and crisis that are chasing away a lot of investors and opportunities that will create employment for our teeming youths in the State", he noted.

Speaking further he added, "Your administration must strive to promote genuine peace in order to attract the desired development to our dear state," while he also opined that, above all, Deltans are going to hold him in high esteemed as the "Governor of Peace without ethnic coloration".

The renowned UN-Peace Ambassador also noted that, his organisation, the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) advocacy programme tagged: 'Delta for Peace Project' will compliment efforts of the Governor's peace building processes to ensure total peace in the State.

It would be recalled that the age-old hostilities between the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities stemmed from a boundary dispute that has persisted for decades and has continued to defy a resolution leading to the two ethnic groups continuous engagement in a cold war over the disputed land.
