71ST BIRTHDAY: IPF Congratulates Asu Beks, Appreciates His Contributions in Media Industry
The Ijaw Publishers' Forum (IPF) congratulates a remarkable personality, ELDER ASU BEKS, the CEO of Maritime Media Limited, and one of the award recipients of the Ernest Ikoli's Personality awards in the Ijaw Media Conference 2024, which was held in Banquet Hall, Government House, Yenagoa on December 11, on his 71st Birth Anniversary today (Wednesday, January 8, 2025).
Having spent over three decades advocating for truth, fairness, and equity in Maritime Journalism, your dedication has earned you the reputation as the Doyen of Maritime Journalism in Nigeria.
Sir, you are a shining light, a role model and a worthy personality in the Niger Delta region, whose works have created a base for the government at all levels in the marine economy in Nigeria.
Your impressive career spans various roles including Information Officer of the Old Western Ijaw Division, City Editor of The Nigerian Tide, and Bureau Chief of the Guardian in Port Harcourt and more. Your fearless reporting had led to significant impacts such as exposing the anomaly of the School to Land Program in Port Harcourt in then military administration.
The IPF acknowledges your passion for the project of Nigeria, particularly your commitment to the Ijaw Nation. Your leadership roles in various organizations, including the League of Maritime Editors and the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria, demonstrate your expertise and influence in the industry.
Your contributions to Maritime Journalism have been recognized through your publication, Shipping World, which had been in circulation since June 1997.
IPF is therefore honoured to celebrate your remarkable 71st birthday and acknowledges your enduring legacy in Maritime Journalism.
The Apex Ijaw Media Council wish you more celebrations in good health and prosperity. The Ijaw Nation is proud of your sir.
Congratulations!
Signed:
