30TH REMEMBRANCE: Paul Oluba Foundation Celebrates Academic Excellence with Awards [Full List]

More than 50 students alongside teachers have emerged as awardees of the Gbaramatu Academic Excellence Award organised by the Paul Oluba Foundation in commemoration of the 30th Remembrance Anniversary of its Founder, Late Apst. Paul Oluba, a frontrunner of Zion Mission and a native of Okerenkoko Federated Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The ceremony, which featured lectures and speech presentation, with the theme "Looking at the Bigger Picture", was held at the Okerenkoko Community Town Hall, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Among the guests in attendance are the chairperson, Hon. Ebi Tonjoh, a Chief Inspector of Education (CIE) who serves as Special Guest of Honour, Mr. Prince Samson Ochuko;:the chairman of Ijaw Youth Council, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Comr. Wazo Oyinkuro Zikurebai; Comr. Denyefa Kester Ubebe and Comr. Princess Joko.

Organised by the chairman of the Foundation, Mr. Tamaramiemini Collins Oturubo, the presentation of award ceremony recognised three secondary schools with 18 students (nine junior secondary and nine senior secondary) emerging from each of the school.

Tne awards were in the categories of punctuality, well-dressed, well-behaved, best student, and were presented to students of Okerenkoko Secondary School, Gbaraun Grammar School Oporoza, and Kokodiagbene Model Secondary School.

Speaking on the awards, Mr. Oturubo disclosed that, "From the three schools, a total of 18 students were awarded from each school and then we paid Junior WAEC for those of the awardees from the JSS 3, we paid for their fee, that is we paid three each, that's nine from each school.

"Then we also awarded teachers, after giving them a plaque of award, with some token of money like N30,000k was put in an envelope for them.

“There and then we did an impromptu speech, the winner went home with N50,000. We bought the basic textbook they needed, scientific calculators, mathematical sets, that's what we did.

The award ceremony is aimed at rewarding academic excellence and good moral behaviour among students in secondary schools in Gbaramatu Kingdom; as well as a way of promoting devotedness to academic works and good moral behaviours in schools.
