This year's memorial programme, which is sponsored and organised by the Foundation, comes up at Okerenkoko Community Town Hall on Monday, November 18, 2024.
The award programme has as its theme 'Looking at the Bigger Picture' and will feature presentation of awards, lectures and a quiz session, with guests speakers dwelling on the theme.
Among the guests billed to grace the ceremony are Hon. Speaking on the programme, the Chairman of the Foundation, Collins Oturubo, extolled his late father for embracing academic excellence and for being a disciplinarian while alive.
"My grandfather, late Apostle Paul Oluba was a renowned philanthropist both in the body of Christ and in community development. For me, there is no better way to celebrate the life of excellence he lived rather than celebrating academic, ethical and moral excellence in secondary schools in Gbaramatu Kingdom.
"My grand dad was also known for his commitment to educational development in the creeks of Gbaramatu Kingdom and he is a no-nonsense disciplinarian, his value for high morals earned him the title 'Agba Sululu'," he disclosed.
Speaking further on the aims of the award, he said, "Come Friday 18th November 2024 my grandad will be celebrating 30 years in Heaven and it is my utmost joy to also celebrate him here on Earth with the 'GBARAMATU ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD'.
"The award ceremony is aimed at rewarding academic excellence and good moral behaviour among students in the secondary schools in Gbaramatu Kingdom; this is also my little way of promoting devotedness to academic works and good moral behaviours in our schools in Gbaramatu Kingdom.
"God bless the memory of my late grandfather; God bless Gbaramatu Kingdom," he prayed.
