The Delta State Chapter of the Izon Christian Fellowship Interdenominational, the umbrella body of Christians in the Izon Nation, under the leadership of Rev. Anthony Burutu, has appealed for financial support to aid the body's divine mission in spreading the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in adherence to the scripture of Mark 16:15.

Rev. Burutu made the appeal in a speech he delivered at the recently concluded 27th edition of the annual Ijaw Day of Prayer, Praise and Thanksgiving with the theme 'Divine Turnaround' which held at the Chief Tunde Smooth playground near NPA in Warri, on Saturday, January 6, 2024.

According to the ICF Chairman, "For 27 years, we have sourced support from you and you have always obliged in supporting and promoting this vision," Rev. Burutu stated. "This vision would've been a thing of the past if not for your support in words and in deeds.

"I also want to acknowledge the struggles of my predecessors and even those who have always stood their grounds in the struggle that the Gospel in the Ijaw land grows wide and wide. God bless you all," he added.

Speaking further, he appealed to well-wishers for financial support to acquire musical instruments and transport vehicles including boats that are needed to enable the body to embark on its divine mission of preaching the Gospel.

"As commanded by the Holy Scripture Mark 16:15, we are saddled with a divine responsibility to carry the Gospel to our regions. We hereby seek your support on the following to succeed:

"1) We will be needing a set of musical instruments that will worth a minimum of N30 million. Like I earlier said in the morning hours, human beings are expensive and so the Gospel is very expensive. To reach out everywhere we will need things that will enable us to preach this Gospel.

"2) We are also looking forward to our own means of transportation, both on water and on land.

"3) We also want to solicit for financial backing. We urged our leaders at various strengths to carve out the strategies to fund the listed projects," he added.

The ICF Chairman, Delta State Chapter, also charged all Izon sons and daughters to imbibe discipline in ensuring the Ijaw language is safeguarded from going into extinction resulting from modern day children, who are the future, unable to understand and speak the language.

The programme had in attendance various traditional rulers in Delta State, ministers and leaders of various churches, women groups and with the Commanding ArchBishop Winning Willy Bunting of the Apostolic Army Worldwide making appearance as guest speaker.
