20TH CORONATION ANNIVERSARY: 8 years after Ogulagha Community welcomes Agbonu, anticipates glorious future
The 20th Coronation Anniversary of the Ebenanaowei of Ogulagha Kingdom in the Burutu local government area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty Elder Capt. King Joseph Ijawperebo Timiyan (JP) Ph.D., Torububou 1, Agbonu, kicked-off with a tour of communities across the oil-rich riverine kingdom, with His Majesty's first stop at the headquarters—Ogulagha Community, on Monday, November 10, 2025.
It was an historic visit for the people of the community, who, led by its Executive Chairman, Comrade Bright B. Guwor, expressed their joy when he said in his welcome address: "Our great King, the land and the people of Ogulagha community yearn for this royal visit long ago. But it happened in my time. For over eight years, HRM has not visited this land, but it happened in my time. To God be all the glory!
"But today, the long-awaited dream has come true according to the providence King. The scripture truly affirms that there is a time and season for everything purposed according to God's design. Agbonu, you could see and feel the warm reception from the trees, air and the mammoth crowd that today is divinely arranged for Ogulagha community to prosper. Thank you our father, our highly revered king for making this visit a reality," he added with smiles; for to him it was not just a visit, it was a record achievement.

The royal visit, marked with traditional entertainment in accordance with the custom and tradition of the Ogulagha people, also featured cultural dance, presentation of gifts to the Ebenanaowei and prayers of blessings from His Majesty on the people.
In excitement, the Chairman of Ogulagha, on behalf of the people, welcomed His Majesty to the land of "liquid gold" in reference to its position as an oil-producing community, while he also extolled the Royal Father's enduring leadership for the two decades on the throne.
"It is with profound joy and honor that I, Comrade Bright B. Guwor, the Executive Chairman of Ogulagha Community, stand here today to warmly welcome you and your royal entourage to Ogulagha Community, the land of liquid gold, on this momentous occasion—the 20th Coronation Anniversary Celebration of His Royal Majesty, Elder Captain King Joseph I. Timiyan (JP) Ph.D., Torububou 1, Agbonu, the Ebenanaowei of Ogulagha Kingdom.
"Today we celebrate a remarkable milestone in the history of Ogulagha Kingdom through decades of visionary leadership, peace and progress. Your Majesty's reign has been a shining example of dedication, service and commitment to the growth and development of our dear kingdom.

"We are indeed very proud and delighted to honour and rejoice with our great king for your resilience and vision that has brought monumental prosperity, growth, and advancement of your kingdom. Your reign has been a beacon of hope, unity, courage, guiding and propelling the kingdom towards a path of a brighter future," the Chairman added.
However, done with the commendations, the Chairman used the opportunity of His Majesty's riyal visit to table the list of demands of the people, with an appeal to the Ebenanaowei to look into their requests.
He said, "Your Majesty, as we celebrate this milestone in grand style, we also acknowledge some challenges ahead of us despite your huge efforts and commitment towards a prosperous Ogulagha kingdom.
"We have a serious problem of unemployment and hunger threatening the survival of the youths. We also have ailing health facilities, disunity amongst us, drug abuse, inadequate government presence in Ogulagha Kingdom, and ocean surge or erosion ravaging almost all our communities and ancestral places. Your Majesty, we humbly appeal for your continued royal guidance, support, and escalation to the appropriate authorities to address this pressing needs of your people.

"We are also using this medium to appeal to His Royal Majesty, that Ogulagha, been the ancestral headquarters of Ogulagha Kingdom, that a Palace should be sited to indicate that, yes, indeed, this is the ancestral headquarter of Ogulagha Kingdom. It is an humble appeal to His Royal Majesty, it is a thing of shame that Governor will come to Ogulagha and he will not go to our Palace here. We therefore appeal to His Royal Majesty to make this a reality for us," he prayed.
But more importantly, for the people of Ogulagha community—an oil-producing community that is home to numerous oil installations from companies like Shell and Chevron, and a major fishing hub—the visit marks a new beginning of greater things to come.
"As you have come to bless us today, it is our firm belief that behold old things are passed away and all things will become new. I see a new dawn in Ogulagha Kingdom—an era of accelerated prosperity, genuine and sustainable unity, peace and collaboration, progress and development, a more beautiful and enduring Ogulagha community and Kingdom at large. Thank you and may God continue to bless our King and the Kingdom at large," and the people chorused "Amen!"
