2031: Pondi Denies Governorship Ambition, Raises Alarm Over ‘Fake’ Facebook Campaign
High Chief Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi has disowned social media publications projecting him for the Delta State governorship election in 2031, declaring that he has neither announced, authorised nor endorsed any such political ambition.
Pondi, in a petition to the Facebook/Meta Support Team, raised the alarm over a Facebook account named “Chief KestinPondi Fan Page,” which he said is being operated without his knowledge, consent or approval and is allegedly using his name, photographs and identity to promote political messages.
The page had reportedly published campaign materials bearing the inscription: “HIGH CHIEF KESTIN PONDI FOR GOVERNOR – DELTA STATE – 2031 – THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE.”
Reacting, Pondi categorically distanced himself from the campaign, stressing that his verified Facebook page, “Kestin Pondi,” remains his only legitimate and official presence on the platform.
“I wish to state categorically that I have not authorized, launched, endorsed, or declared any such governorship campaign or political ambition,” he stated.
He warned that the unauthorised publications could mislead members of the public into believing that he has declared interest in the 2031 governorship race or that those behind the campaign are acting with his approval.
Pondi therefore urged Meta to immediately investigate and take down the alleged unauthorised page, remove the political campaign materials, identify those responsible for its operation and prevent further unauthorised use of his name, photographs and public image.
He also assured Meta of his readiness to provide proof of identity, ownership of his verified Facebook page and other relevant documentation required for its investigation.
The High Chief appealed for urgent action, warning that the continued circulation of political messages in his name without his consent could create public misunderstanding and cause reputational harm.
High Chief Pondi is a prominent civil engineer, businessman, leader from Gbaramatu and Ogulagha kingdoms in Delta State, and the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) known for his philanthropic acts including the sponsor of the Kestin Pondi Business Grant, an annual philanthropic initiative launched to support emerging Nigerian entrepreneurs and small business owners.
