2023: Meet DESOPADEC's 4th Batch Overall Best, Best Trainees, Best Trainer from its Skill Acquisition Academy

On Tuesday, October 17, at the PTI Conference Center in Effurun, Delta State, the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission's Skill Academy, DSA, conducted its graduation ceremony for the fourth batch of 195 trainees who had undergone six months training in their choice of vocation that ranges from Catering and Confectionary, to Fashion Design, Hair Dressing and Makeover, Welding and Fabrication, Software and Hardware Development; POP, Tiling and Interlocking, and Electrical Installation and Repairs.

The highpoints of the graduation ceremony were the handing over of starter-packs worth millions of naira to the trainees and the presentation of prize awards to the overall best and best trainees in all of the vocations, for performing excellently during the course of their training, all in a bid to motivate them to excel as they begin their journey into the world of entrepreneurship. Also presented is an award for the best trainer.

On the cash prizes, while the overall best trainee went home with N500,000k; those in the best trainee category went home with N200,000k each. In all, the overall best trainee, who is also among the best trainee category was the star of the 4th batch graduation ceremony, going home with a total sum of N700,000k prize money.

Below are the names of the awardees, who were seven in numbers, taken from each of the vocational skill acquisition, plus the best trainer in the DSA fourth batch edition (in the order of the presentation).

1️⃣ SAMUEL RUTH, a female trainee, emerges as Overall Best Graduating Trainee in Catering and Confectionary vocation from the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA). The award was presented to her by the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chief Sheriff Francis Oborevwori (JP), represented by the Special Adviser on DESOPADEC, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana.

2️⃣ JAMES IFAKACHUCKWU VICTOR, a male trainee, emerges as Best Graduating Trainee in Electrical Installation and Repairs vocation, having scored 75 percent score from the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA) examination. The award was presented to him by the Executive Director of Projects, DESOPADEC, Chief (Hon.) Taleb Tebite.

3️⃣ ANYAWALE JOY, a female trainee, emerges as Best Graduating Trainee in Fashion Design vocation, having scored 91 percent score from the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA) examination. The award was presented to her by the Executive Director of Social Services, DESOPADEC, Chief (Hon.) Favour Izoukumor.

4️⃣ ISABELLA DOUYE PETER, a female trainee, emerges as Best Graduating Trainee in Hair Dressing and Makeover vocation, having scored 86 percent score from the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA) examination. The award was presented to her by the Managing Director, DESOPADEC, Chief Festus Ochonogor.

5️⃣ OKORO KESS, a male trainee, emerges as Best Graduating Trainee in Software and Hardware Development vocation, having scored 70 percent score from the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA) examination. The award was presented to him by the Board Chairman, DESOPADEC, Chief (Hon.) John Nani.

6️⃣ IKRETHO BERNARD, a male trainee, emerges as Best Graduating Trainee in POP, Tiling and Interlocking vocation, having scored 77 percent score from the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA) examination. The award was presented to him by the House Committee Chairman, DESOPADEC, Hon. Austin Oroye.

7️⃣ ONODUA GOLD IRUOGHENE, a male trainee, emerges as Best Graduating Trainee in Welding and Fabrication vocation, having scored maximum percent score from the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA) examination. The award was presented to him by the First Vice Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, and the Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Pere Luke Kalanama VIII (JP).

8️⃣ SAMUEL RUTH, a female trainee, emerges as Best Graduating Trainee in Catering and Confectionary vocation, having scored 95 percent score from the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA) examination. The award was presented to her by the Commissioner representing Urhobo ethnic nationality, DESOPADEC, Mr. Sylvester Ovbije.

9️⃣ STELLA SMART, a female trainer, emerges as the Best Trainer in Catering and Confectionary vocation from the DESOPADEC Skill Academy (DSA). The award was presented to her by the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chief Sheriff Francis Oborevwori (JP), represented by the Special Adviser on DESOPADEC, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana.

Starter-packs were presented to all of the 195 graduands in all the vocations, broken down as follows: Catering and Confectionaries, 76; Fashion Design, 56; Hair Dressing and Makeover, 28; Welding and Fabrication, 21; Software and Hardware Development, 9; POP, Tiling and Interlocking, 4; and Electrical Installation and Repairs, 1.

Members of the DESOPADEC Board as constituted include: Olorogun John Nani, Chairman; Chief Festus Ochonogor, Managing Director; Mr. Efele Eyewu Nicholas, Executive Director; Mr. Favour Izoukumor, Executive Director; Chief Taleb A. O. Tebite, Executive Director; and Mr. Oghenekome Okpobor, Executive Director.

Other members of the Board are Chief Julius Egbedi; Mr. Sylvester Ovbije; Mr. Goru Jonathan Oghenekaro; Mr. Azuka Enebeli; Dr. Charles Olisa; Mrs. Cordelia N. Anyangwu; Mr. Sonny Ofe; Chief Victor Egbo and Mr. Spencer Okpoye.
